Morri, I think I agree with you most of all the opinions that I've read. I don't particularly like slash in the same way I don't particularly like country music. I'll read it if it's good, but it's not something I go searching for. Having said that, there are some slash writers in the HP fandom whose stuff I really enjoy because they are good writers.

To use an example from another fandom, I read and beta the Kirk/Spock that my friend dreamplum writes because I like her writing and because she cares so much about the pairing. I don't read any other Trek fic (unless she recommends something) because it's not really my thing, but Plummy's stuff is good. And yes, I even read the NC-17 scenes that she writes. However, I still don't particularly like slash. Does this make me a homophobe? I don't think so, and I bet Plummy, who is bi, doesn't think so either, or why would she have me read and beta her stuff?

Argh. Can't we all just get along? :(

*claps* I've read your (above linked) comment, and I agree totally. My stance is, people are going to like what they're going to like, and everyone is different. (And so will be interested by different things.) And what is wrong with that?

I'm a vegetarian, but when I meet someone who dislikes the idea of not eating meat, I don't take it personally. I say "If you don't presume tell me what I should eat, I'll show you the same courtesy."

You know, I've been able to see both sides in a way, but ultimately I'm still with you. I respect their opinions and even how upset they are, but I'm with you. I'd need more info and reasons before jumping down their throat...
