The sweetest thing you'll ever see in the whole wide world is a happy girl
Thanks to everyone for the happy song suggestions. Here are some of my favorite happy songs, in case any of you were curious:

Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners How can you not find violins in pop music fun? Plus, I can always see people in denim overalls running around the streets of London in my head, from seeing the video so often when it was popular.
And We Danced - The Hooters Another song using a strange instrument (the melodica). I wonder if there's a pattern. Just FUN.
Get This Party Started - Pink This song is all about attitude and working it. I can't listen to this and not feel like I am the coolest, most gorgeous, fun person in existence. Too bad the song's only 4 minutes long. >:D<
Something So Strong - Crowded House Just happy and fun, and again with remembering the video, which was very silly and cute.
Swing Swing - The All-American Rejects This one doesn't have happy lyrics but the music just makes me want to bob my head like a loon.

My coworker - the one I'm closest to - came up to ask me something and exclaimed "You are positively glowing! I have never seen you smile so much," and I then turned all sorts of shades of pink and laughed, to which she commented on me being like a schoolgirl.

It's funny, really - I mentioned the other week that I'd lost my CLex and wanted it back? Well, now I've lost my cynical, heart-of-ice bitch, but strangely, I have no desire to locate her. I must admit that there is a part of my brain that occasionally goes UGH! MUSH! SAP! PUKE!, but then the rest of my brain takes that bit into the corner, stuffs a gag in its mouth and ties it up for a while. >:D< Ahahaha, even my gray matter is kinky.
I feel: sillysilly

I've got a few happy/funny songs!

'Don't stop me now' by Queen
'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' by Eric Idle
'Bicycle Race' by Queen (can you tell I like Queen?)
'Cornflake Girl' by Tori Amos (don't get the lyrics, but the tune is really upbeat)
'Chamma Chamma' by China Gate
'Every Sperm is Sacred' from Monty Python
'Papa Loves Mambo' from the Ocean's Eleven soundtrack (a personal favourite of mine!)

Is this my cue to post about the time that Rob Hymin and Eric Bazillian came to PENN (they're both alums) for a concert and I got to interview them beforehand, and how they came to give a sort of music-industry discussion session a few nights later in one of the high rise lounges, and Eric spent about an hour with some of the current crop of Econ majors (which is what he majored in) looking thru the textbook that had hardly changed in fifteen years?
Or can I just wibble in wonder about the amazingness that is Neil Finn & Crowded House?

Off to steal the meme...

Off to steal the meme...

*grins* Go right ahead, although it really wasn't meant as a meme. I asked about what everyone's favorite happy songs are in my last post because I really DO want to get some more, and I thought it was only fair that I return the favor. >:D<

Oh, and if we're going to name drop, I've met Andy Bell and Vince Clarke (Erasure) and interviewed Modern English and introduced them onstage before a concert.

this as well! :-) It's a great meme, even if it's not one. LOL And I participate in so few of them. ;-)

Personally I've always been partial to songs from musicals. Guys & Dolls has many good ones or there's lots of good Rogers & Hart/Hammerstein - Oklahoma has some great songs (People Will Say We're in Love anyone??).

I was always under the impression that this is what all of British society was like: the crappy boots, the instruments, the stomping. My God, the stomping!

Great songs!

My God, the stomping!

LOLOL I don't know why, but that statement really made me laugh.

And thanks!

Alright, you've been friended. I've been reading your journal, and you are just too damn interesting. I apologize for not doing it sooner.
