And yay!

zorac was able to get the time off and book the plane tickets we were hoping for yesterday! He will arrive earlier than usual on August 13th and he doesn't leave until the morning of the 17th! My time off hasn't been approved yet, but I don't think it will be a problem - it had better not be, anyway. We will celebrate my birthday a week early and mostly just spend time alone. It's still nearly 4 weeks away, but at least we have plans!

I went to look at apartments with my dad and my brother today, and we decided on one! Here is the floorplan:

The image is a bit goofy - basically, take the part sticking out that says "storage and den" and put it where the "storage and patio" are and that's the apartment. My dad will be in the den, my brother in the bedroom next to the den and I will be in the bedroom ACROSS THE LIVING ROOM FROM THEM. BOTH OF THEM, OVER THERE. *dances the FINALLY-getting-more-privacy dance* It has the full-size washer/dryer, a dishwasher, central AC, and you see in the floorplan where it looks like there's a fireplace in the living room? We're on the first floor so it's a built-in desk - how cool is that?! We're hoping that the TV might work on that, but the unit we saw had a fireplace rather than a desk so we're not certain yet. Oh! And we get to choose the color of the accent wall (the one where the desk is) and they paint it for us! And my commute should go down to 45 min - 1 hour from the 1 1/2 - 2 hours it is now. Hurrah! Still not looking forward to packing and moving, though (we move in September).

In other news, I treated myself a bit and got Lancome goodies - they have new flavored and tinted lip glosses, so I got one (Raspberry Ice) and a fruity nail polish (Guimauve), plus the bonus gift. I love fruity lip glosses!

Tomorrow it will be time to do my online driving course to for that speeding ticket I got forever ago. Nothing like waiting 'til almost the last minute... Bleh. However, there will be some ebil planning to do after that... ;)

That's awesome, Morri! Moving IS a huge pain, but once it's done, it's done. It's not something you have to do every day, thank Merlin! ;-)

I admire you for being a tolerant enough person to live with family-of-origin members. I'd murder mine and then have to go to prison and be some bad woman's bitch. *trembles*

OK...now I think everyone should post the floorplans to their apartments. *giggles* Here's mine (which I live in alone, which is much better than it sounds. Audley posted it on the web for me. *waves to Audley*)

(I'm not all cool and hip to the LJ thing yet, being new at it, but I wanted to start a trend.)

Re: Congratulations!!
Thanks! In all seriousness, the only thing that keeps me sane is that a) I can't afford to live alone and b) I'm hoping for when I will be packing and moving overseas and away from them for good. ;)

Your floorplan is cool! Kinda odd that you have a murphy bed in what looks like the living room AND a bedroom, but what the hey? Also, for some odd reason I thought you were married. Obviously I misread something somewhere...

Congrats on the new apartment. It looks awesome -- I'm quite jealous, especially about the walk-in closets and the washer and dryer. Good luck with the move in a few months.

Let me tell you, until I started making at least a certain amount of money ($35K/year, my first real job after grad school) I didn't have any of the nice things like walk-in closets and a washer/dryer in the unit. But since that time, I have decided that I'm an adult and therefore allowed to pick the things that are important to me. (Not to mention all the mobility issues that would make going to a laundry room or laundromat nigh impossible) It's all a matter of picking and choosing...

Yay indeed - good things all, and I hope that they all live up to their very considerable promise.

Me too! Glad to see you and Meg had a fantabulous time!
