Do I seem very picky from this? Hmmmm...

Although I'm crap at thinking up questions for people, have a go at this one if you want (snagged from loads of people):

There's a huge chunk of you out there whose LJs I read every day - but in a lot of cases, I don't know how old a lot of you are, or where you live, or basic, normal things.

This is the problem with LJ - we all think we are so close, and while we know about the day-to-day, there's still a lot we don't know about each other. So let's rectify it.

I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. I promise, I will not make fun of you, or say who asked what; I won't divulge any social security numbers and stuff, but I'll try to answer everything - personal, fandom - whatever.

I then invite you to do the same. Remember, seriously basic stupid questions, don't be embarrassed; you would be really shocked what I don't know about you.
I feel: sleepysleepy

What do you do (for work)?
Vicki: Harry/Ronhermorrine on June 18th, 2004 05:56 pm (UTC)
I do applications support for a healthcare data company. Basically it's customer service, but the emphasis is on the methodology and data, so it gets really intricate at times and often requires research.

Not so much a question - just letting you know that I finally emailed you. Let me know if you don't get it.

I did get it and will reply either tonight or over the weekend. >:D

What are some "basic" favorites of yours - color, food, etc.?
Vicki: Mark heart bearhermorrine on June 18th, 2004 09:55 pm (UTC)
Favorite color is easy - deep, dark red. Any red, really, but I prefer the darker ones.

Favorite food... sheesh, I don't know. I get in moods where I really crave the same sorts of things for a period of time, and then I get on some other kick. Right now I seem to crave meat for some reason - I'm on a protein kick I guess. I also have a horrible sweet tooth. :)

Tempted to ask what the S00per sekr1t is, but that would be neither polite nor kind, so I shall not. (Besides, that's a question about you and Mark, not a question about you!)

What is your academic background and what made you follow the one you did? (I can remember off the top of my head that you have a Masters, but I can't remember what in...)

*laughs* Well I did tell you that we'd love to hear your guesses about it, and I think it would only be fair that if you guessed correctly we'd tell you. ;)

My bachelor's degree is in Communication with a minor in Women's Studies. I did Communication because I was going for Radio (I did the Radio, TV, Film tract of Com) - I'd wanted to be a DJ since I was about 10. I was on the radio for about 2 1/2 years during undergrad and I really did love it, but it's a cutthroat business and I just wasn't bitchy enough to step on people and be ruthless. So I got to my last year of undergrad going, "Now what?" about my future, and that feeling lasted for quite a few years after graduation.

My master's degree is in Computer Information Systems. I decided to go for this after working for an internet company for a couple of years (after being on the net for years before that) and being fascinated by the whole thing. I thought it would be really cool to learn about how the internet worked. Of course, there was a lot more to it than that, and I was fairly disillusioned by school as a whole by the time I was done with my master's.

I should note that what I was considering for grad school before I even thought about something computer-related was some sort of therapy - psychology, social work, counseling, etc. I still find the idea of being a sex therapist a wonderful dream, and I think that would be the only reason I would ever go back to school again - but I can't see doing it anytime in the foreseeable future.
