These are the things I ponder when I should be going to bed.
Can someone please explain to me the reason you would use the word ironical when it seems to me that ironic is just fine?

or perhaps lack of alanis morissette exposure?

Possibly, but then too much Alanis Morisette leads to people using 'ironic' when they mean 'unlucky'...

I think it started out as a joke usage, like "haha oh look at our bad teenybopper language skillz", that has somehow worked it way into the mainstream :?

Irregardless of their reason, I'm sure it makes sense to them's mind.

Thank you, Nixon.

Acute terminal stupidity?

Linguistically, the reason is that the adverb is ironically, and so people sometimes reverse engineer ironically -> ironical rather than the correct ironic. Wow, I've managed to bore myself with linguistic pedantry. Am so impressed.

In addition, why do they use 'weary' when they mean 'wary'?

This strikes me as an inflammable topic.
