Just Call Me 'Ms. Scrooge.'
Dear People-Who-Still-Have-Their-Xmas-Lights-On -

It's January 5th. That means it is not only past Xmas, it's also past New Year's. You no longer have any reason to have your lights on. I don't care if you don't take them down yet, but I really don't understand why you have them on - unless you really like the extra high electric bills for some odd reason.

No love,
Morri

Can you tell that I'm happy it's past the holidays? Of course, the stores are already putting up stuff for the evil holiday happening in February, but - one hurdle at a time.

In other news, it started snowing yesterday afternoon. It hasn't stopped yet. -.-! I HATE WINTER. I am moving away from here some time in the next couple of years, so if you live somewhere that rarely gets under 40-odd degrees F and would perhaps like me to be your neighbor, give me reasons to move to your city/area. I want out of here.

Computer still fairly dead. Working on possible alternatives.

All the TV and radio stations in the Chicago area have been doing a donation drive today for the Tsunami victims, and 1 1/2 million dollars have been raised. Granted, Sandra Bullock donated $1 million by herself to the relief fund, but lots of people donating anywhere from $1 to $200,000 can add up. They had a story about a little girl who donated the $7 she earned babysitting. Makes me think my piddly $10 might actually do some good.

I feel: coldcold

I am STUCK in the snowy North! But I'm planning a hot air ballon escape! :D

I think hot air and cold air mixing might equal a rather short flight for you... :/

*crashes into a mountainside and deflates*

Damn practical considerations. :/

Word. I don't understand the Christmas lights in January thing either.

I bet I can make you feel better about your snow and cold! It's -20F (plus wind chill) here right now.

Hee. Did that help? >:D

O_O Not really. Just leaves me to live in fear of it getting that cold here again. It just might.

You asked me the other day how much I paid a local shop to have my computer rid of viruses and worms - it cost me a total of $200. This was 2 years ago and they managed to get some of my data backed up to a cd and reformatted my hard drive. (A techie friend of mine says you should do this every once in a while anyway.)

Of course, I got reinfected a few months later and gave up on Windows altogether at home but that's another story.

I think I'm just going to head towards saving for a new machine instead. -.-
Faster, plebe! I do believe I have the vapours!slytherincesss on January 6th, 2005 05:25 am (UTC)
Does this mean you disapprove of the fact that I still have Halloween pumpkin lights out and staked into the ground in my front yard? =)) *is so lazy*
Vicki: Chibi!Me Fullhermorrine on January 6th, 2005 10:07 am (UTC)
Only if you are actually turning them ON every night. Otherwise, it's all good.

No, that would mean that I am an efficient, organized person. The truth is, I stuck them into the ground and then couldn't find an extension cord. They've never been turned on :))

How pathetic is THAT? ;)

My Christmas tree is still up, and I still have a wreath on the front door... the tree is still up because I'm lazy, but the wreath is gorgeous and still alive, so I can't bring myself to throw it out!

Yeah, winter? Hate it. I foolishly volunteered to go into work tomorrow on my day off, so I get to dare the roads in the morning.

Also, Valentine's Day... I should come out to Chicago and you and stinkymcjinky and I can all get wasted in protest. Provided this freakish snow and freezing rain EVER STOPS.
Vicki: CAKE!hermorrine on January 6th, 2005 10:08 am (UTC)
You know, that is not a bad idea. However, we'll have to play it by ear due to the stupid weather, I agree.

LOL, we passed a Christmas-lit house on the way home! Hello, people, it's over! And if you're just too lazy to take them down, how about turning them off? Sheesh.
Vicki: The Lookhermorrine on January 6th, 2005 10:09 am (UTC)
I agree. I mean, it's playing blizzard world here, I don't expect anyone to get up on ladders in the middle of a snowstorm. But there is just no excuse for not just leaving them turned off. Honestly.

I agree with the bad luck idea. Death and destruction seems a bit strong, even for the Scroogelike.

See, that was one of the reasons I wanted to move to England - the general lack of snow. I can handle occasional snow, but this every winter all the time nonsense makes me crazy. I also like all those old buildings you lot have. We don't have anything old over here in the 'New World,' you know.

Given that January 5th is the twelfth day of Christmas, I don't think one could say that Christmas is long over.
