His Dark Materials

WHAT. THE. FUCK.
I mean, seriously. This is some wacked-out shit. And they think these are children's books?! This book is more dark and terrifying than OotP IMO!

I'm only partway through The Subtle Knife so if you comment, no spoilers for any of the books - that way people who haven't read them yet can read.

Also, I have to say that Arabian Bright is the only product from Lush I've tried yet that doesn't smell nice. We'll see if it does nice things to my hair - then it might be worth putting up with the smell again.

Hi! *sheepish grin* was LJ hopping, and have only just recently ready His Dark Materials as well. I loved them madly, but I agree that they are a lot darker than er.. most childrens books. While I don't think they're suitable for like, the 8-10 age group, I thoroughly enjoyed them.

This book is more dark and terrifying than OotP IMO!

Yeah, definitely, though I wasn't really scared through either.

cheers, Yasmin

Hello! You have the same name as my RL best friend, therefore you must be cool. :D

I finished A Subtle Knife last night and I've started on The Amber Spyglass. When I've finished I'll post again to give my thoughts in full. I haven't been scared myself by the books, it's more that I can't see letting kids read these.

That's so cool. I have met one other Yasmin in my life, a Yazmin and a Yaesmin. It's not really that common, so I am always "OOH!" whenever someone mentions that they know someone else with the name. :))

I bought all three in the one volume and had the entire trilogy done in two and a half days, including sleep and school. I couldn't put it down!

I'll be interested to see what you thought of the trilogy as a whole. Some bits I was a bit discontent with, but generally I really enjoyed them. :>
